On the field Day 2 – Worship & workmanship

After morning prayer meeting, we went to the Mandarin Baptist church to lead the Sunday service. Again we witnessed the wonderful work of the Holy Spirit.
The congregation was inspired during praise time by the songs led by the STM praise team.
Then Jenny shared a powerful personal testimony. The congregation was touched (some had tears in their eyes). Then followed by a sermon by Sai. The message was solid and in response to Jenny’s testimony. Unknowingly, the message hit the hearts of some of believers in the congregation.  (We were told by a sister of their church later).

After the service we had lunch with the brothers & sisters. The followings are some of the feedback from them :-
(1) They liked the songs of praise and the style of praise leaders
(2) They were praying for STM team to come and God answer their prayer. As a matter of fact, serving the STM team has brought the church members together to work with each other. Moreover, Rev. Wang happened to be away for this week, and STM team helped solve their problem.
(3) Over 90% of the Chinese population in Santo Domingo are now Cantonese, and there is not a church for them.
(4) Some Cantonese people came to the service today because they know the STM team is here. Some of the Cantonese expressed that they enjoyed today service because both the sharing & sermon are basically in Cantonese (translated into Mandarin).   May the good Lord give us wisdom to respond to the need of the Cantonese Christians here in Santo Domingo.  In the afternoon, we split into two teams. One team stayed in the hotel to meet with 3 sisters whom we met before in Santiago. They had a very nice fellowship.
The other team (6 teammates) went out to visit the Chinese in another area of Santo Domingo. As there was not enough time available, they could only visit a small portion of the area. They brought back the info of that town for us to consider for the future STM.

Around  10 p.m. we had fellowship with the local brothers & sisters , and their relatives & friends. Louis & Grace gave a touching testimony of their struggles when they immigrated to US 42 years ago. Yet through these, they came to Christ and found peace in their lives. Their sharing was well responded by the people in the meeting. Once God’s Spirit worked in the hearts of the people.

At the end of the day, we give thanks & praise to God for making the STM team an instrument of His work, to let the brothers and sisters here encounter the presence of His Spirit and enjoy the fellowship with the Lord in the Worship. And through the personal testimonies, people were touched and encouraged by the love of God. We are graceful that we are the workmanship of God to bring the message of peace & hope to other people.
