On the field Day 4 – Our plan? God’s plan!

Just before we were getting ready to leave for Santiago & San Francisco, we were told that there was a strike going on in S.F. We confirmed it with a sister in S.F. and they did not open their store either. Therefore we needed to take a contingency plan. Having discussed among our teammates, we decided to keep the S.F. team in Santo Domingo for the time being and wait for further development.

We believed there must be a reason God let such thing happened. In fact, this morning we were talking about the follow-up of the believers here and also the 3 new believers. We did not get a chance to talk to them and pray with them individually after last night’s gathering. Now the S.F. team could use this opportunity to finish what we’re supposed to finish in Santo Domingo. We thank God for that. So they asked the sisters to have a meeting tonight to discuss the matter.

On the other hand, the other team arrived Santiago safely around 3 p.m. after 2 hours trip. After resting a little while, we went out to do visitation in our neighborhood. Our priority of visitation was to see the brothers and sisters to understand their situation and to reinforce the faith in God.

In the evening, we had dinner with the brothers & sisters, plus some new comers and seekers. We also provided health service (i.e. Blood pressure & blood glucose check). Then we had games, singing & individual conversation. There were more than 30 people including STM team. There were new faces that we met for the first time. We stayed till some time after 12:30 a.m.
We also had a chance to talk to a brother, named “Ah Yun” and he shared with us his struggles in his mind. He is going to be baptized this coming Sunday and David will do the baptismal class with him tomorrow night. (Now Bonnie will have to take up David’s assignment for one of the Bible study groups tomorrow.).
Having talked to the brothers & sisters, we realized what were the worries and burden in their hearts that hindered their faith and spiritual growth in Christ. Basically the economy and the personal relationship in family are the major factors.

Later in the night, the S.F. team decided to go to S.F. tomorrow since the situation there was under control. In addition, the brothers and sisters were disappointed to know the STM team cancelled the trip this morning, and also a sister in S.F. wanted to be baptized while the STM team is here. The S.F. team might go to S.F. for two nights (to be confirmed tomorrow night. Instead of coming to Santiago on Thursday, they would probably join the other team on Friday. That didn’t really affect the original schedule. But by doing so, we would be able to accomplish more in our mission trip. God’s plan is always better than our plan! Alleujah!
