On the field Day 5 – support to brothers & sisters
This morning Celine led the STM team morning prayer
meeting. We had very good sharing & prayer time. We
praised & thanked Him for His protection, His salvation
to those seekers and the encouragement to us and those
serving Him here. (Correction : Please note that it’s
7 people came to Christ in Santo Domingo, not
3 as I mentioned in the previous report).
In
today’s visitation, we focused more on brothers &
sisters to give them support, encouragement & comfort in
Christ. There is a young couple in church that brothers
& sisters have been worrying about. The wife has been
staying in the house not seeing anybody or talking to
anyone in church for some time. Before we came to DR, we
were informed about the situation and we had been
praying for them. We were also told that the husband
went to work in San Pedro. When we were San Pedro, we
looked for him. Thankfully God led us to a store run by
someone who knows him and found out he had already came
back to Santiago since he knew the STM team coming. So
in the morning prayer meeting, we prayed for the couple.
We planned to visit them today but don’t know if they’d
open the door for us.
We split into 3 teams. Two teams went to visitation and
David & Helen were to see the young couple. We called
the husband, but no one answered the phone. Later a
brother called us and urged us to visit the couple and
advised us no need to call them, just go straight to
their house. So we did. We knocked on the door 3 times
before the husband open the door. (Meanwhile other
teammates were waiting across the street to see if David
& Helen would be able to stay with the couple or else
join their visitation). David went down the street to
give them signals that they could continue with their
visitation.
Helen
& David had a very fruitful conversation with the
couple. Obviously the Spirit was working in their
hearts. We spent 2 hours counseling them and it was
worthy because both of them were willing to work on
their relationship again. They both promised to come to
church tonight for Bible study. PTL for His mercy &
grace ! May God’s love continue to fill the gap between
them and mend their relationship.
In the
evening, we had very good fellowship and Bible study.
PTL! The young couple showed up in the meeting. We
started with singspiration and icebreaking game and then
split into 3 groups. One was for believers, one for
seekers, and one for baptismal class.
In the believers group, we emphasized on the importance
and explained on the way of devotion with the Lord.
In the
seekers group, 2 young men expressed they believed in
Christ but because of their parents’ opposition, they
couldn’t have the baptism yet. Another person was
considering to accept Christ to be her savior. Please
pray for them!
In the
baptismal group, we clarified a few points with the
brother to make sure he understands & accept salvation &
baptism and reaffirmed his willingness and readiness to
be baptized. Two more sisters wished to be baptized
(their mother was baptized yesterday in China). But we
still have to work out the day & time for their baptism
since they cannot be baptized at the same. Please pray
for their faith & spiritual life. The meeting went so
fast that we didn’t even realize it’s already 1 a.m. by
the time we finished.
In San
Francisco, the team decided to stay there till Friday.
They baptized a sister there yesterday. Then in the
evening, they had fellowship with the brothers &
sisters. They had singing and then group discussion.
We
concluded the day with praise & thanks to God for His
mercy & grace. Allelujah! |
